A Support Alliance

Welcome to our site

Here at A Support Alliance we are investing in the future of our membership along with the general population by taking an active role in understanding how the health care reform, national health care plain (sometimes called the Affordable Care Act) will be implemented and its relationship to your neighborhoods quality of health care and the educational environment.

Carroll County, Maryland has long needed additional sources of support for those living with HIV/AIDS. Establishing networking opportunities with individuals and community based organizations remains to this day a challenge for anyone living with or interested in working in the prevention of exposure to HIV.

There are many ways to become active as an advocate. For more information please send your questions to asupportalliance@gmail.com or contact David Shamer @ 410-848-0138.

 Everyone can:

  • Get the facts about HIV and understand your risk. Get tested for HIV and other STIs. If you have HIV, get treatment and stay in care to remain healthy and prevent passing the virus to others.
  • Engage in community and web-based education and other effective programs to prevent HIV and STIs among youth, particularly youth at highest risk.
  • Combat the stigma and discrimination that keep young people, particularly young gay and bisexual males, from prevention and treatment services.
  • Find out more about what CDC is doing about HIV at http://www.cdc.gov/hiv and http://www.cdc.gov/healthyyouth/sexualbehaviors.
